Almost three thousand dangerous finds! The head of the mine clearance department spoke about the results of the unit’s work.

The head of the demining department of RKS-NR LLC shared the results of the work in an interview with Priazovsky Worker.

After the end of hostilities, many buildings in Mariupol posed a danger due to remaining ammunition and explosive objects.

Then, in June 2022, by order of the Russian Ministry of Construction, a demining department of RKS-NR LLC was created to ensure the safety of construction work. The main goal is to save people’s lives and reduce the downtime of construction work when explosive objects are detected at restoration sites.

Of course, the special services and units of the Russian Ministry of Defense carried out a preliminary inspection of buildings and territories, but when clearing the rubble, builders still found explosive objects and entire caches of ammunition.

For these cases, an action algorithm was developed: For any suspicious finding, department specialists were called. They made about 20 trips per day. After identifying the ammunition, a decision was made on further actions: calling sappers (2nd and 3rd degrees) or neutralizing it on our own (1st degree). As a result, it was possible to organize clear work without bureaucratic delays.

From June 2022 to September 2024, the demining department of RKS-NR LLC neutralized 2,735 explosive objects of the second and third degrees of danger, including 171 anti-personnel mines in a cache on the territory of a kindergarten on Metallurgov Avenue. 42 aircraft munitions were also discovered at a depth of 8 to 12 meters.

Dangerous objects continue to be found and neutralized to this day, so residents of Mariupol still need to be very careful and constantly remind children of this.
The department ensures security not only in the DPR, but also in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

At the moment, all the tasks set by the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation have been completed 100%: not a single person involved in repair and restoration work was injured - this is the main indicator of the professionalism and responsible approach to the work of the mine clearance department employees.
